Meet Clare Ellam

Founder of Lostford Rehabilitation

Hi, I'm Clare. I have been an equine therapist specialising in rehabilitation for the past 26 years and also a licensed racehorse trainer. Over the years the requirement for horses to come and stay with us for intensive and fully guided rehab has increased tenfold. We have gradually been developing the yard and premises to accommodate more clients.

My team and I work fully alongside your vet and we can take veterinary referrals. We pride ourselves on being able to provide the best facilities for rehabilitation, fitness training, box rest, controlled exercise, and holiday stays.

I’ve worked with Clare and her team since 2016. Clare has extensive knowledge and experience in the management of Sport Horses, both in their fitness and rehabilitation of injuries. Clare is also a very experienced chiropractor.

I’m so excited about the development of this truly unique facility, and very proud to be working with such a fantastic team. Soon to be home to the only commercial equine swimming pool in the North West!

Our horse had been lame for 6 months with a ligament injury and on continual box rest, stressed and anxious. We never thought he would return to normal work levels but then a chance bump into Clare changed everything.

He went for 3 weeks to Lostford Equine Rehabilitation yard and received all kinds of treatments, laser, Indiba, Theraplate, massage for his whole body stiff from box rest, and lots of TLC from Clare’s wonderful staff. They brought him back into work and progressed his exercise programme.
